PARIS | CHAPON

30 Apr > 16 May 2026

Presentation

At first, there is a vague idea. It is blurred and indistinct. Then, the mind guides the hand, and the image that was once only imagined begins to take shape, assuming a new form that still needs to be expressed more clearly. This is where the lines multiply, where possibilities emerge and become concrete. This stage is the hidden side of creation, impossible to guess when one is captivated by the final result, for which choices had to be made, decisions taken, and color added... Often, this stage, considered intermediate, disappears. In Olivier Ledroit’s case, this is not so. It is preserved, the final work being completed on another medium.

For the first time, the artist has agreed to reveal this preparatory work, charged with extraordinary energy, in an exhibition at the Huberty & Breyne gallery, Paris | Chapon - 19. On this occasion, we are publishing a precious book that presents the entire process behind the development and layout of his famous Wika series.
