Presentation

Philippe Berthet?s Pin-Up series, co-created with Yann and published by Éditions Dargaud between 1994 and 2011, skilfully combined historical allusion and humour, espionage and glamour. Revolving around the creation of a ?muse? to boost the morale of American GIs fighting on the front line, the series was an elegant reference to Milton Caniff?s legendary Poison Ivy. In works that are part allusion, part homage, Berthet continues to explore the theme of pin-ups through a subtle combination of charm, eroticism and nostalgia for a bygone era characterised by elegance and chic. Huberty & Breyne invites you to come and view these new works specially created ? in pencil and Indian ink, colour and black and white ? for the exhibition, which runs from 14 March to 6 April at the gallery?s Brussels venue.
